Sunday {Scouting} Drive

Sunday's weather played a trick on us and we had to change our boating plans.

So we headed out for a Sunday drive.

Usually when we go on a Sunday drive, our destination is something outdoors related {Bass Pro Shop, river scouting, fly fishing hole scouting, state game lands scouting, lots of scouting...}

Sunday was a fly fishing scouting day.

I have been getting into fly fishing more and I think The Sportsman has been trying to keep my interest {probably so more of the budget gets allotted towards new fly fishing gear and time spent in waders} by sneaking fly fishing magazines and books in my reading stack, taking me to gorgeous fishing holes and coming up with excuses to linger in the fly fishing isles, right in front of the pretty pink fly rods.

That said, we headed up to Boiling Springs, PA and the home of the famous Yellow Breeches Creek.  The place was swarming with fly fishermen.  Apparently the white fly hatch is about to happen?  It's a pretty popular spot.  A little crowded for my taste, but it's always neat to see some good outdoors culture happening. We will probably go back with gear in hand later this fall.

The area is very historical dating back to 1737 with lots of ties to the underground railroad, and a neat old iron furnace that made material for the revolution.
It is also a stop along the Appalachian Trail.

Very Civil War Era Looking, isn't it?

Definitely a great destination with some pretty views.

The Sportsman-in-Training was coming off a sugar high and had been in the car too long so we let him do some exploring.

We fed the ducks.

 And found a spot with no fly-fisherman to throw
rocks in the water.

We checked out the drain.

And I am really not sure what he was trying to do here...

Then we went home.
